Just like wine grapes, tea takes on flavors from the land and climates where it is grown. One of the best examples of this is tea from Darjeeling, a tiny area situated in the foothills of the Himalayas that produces world famous tea. Known as the “champagne of tea”, the cool mountain air produces intense flavors that tend to resemble muscadine grapes in the tea. In this episode I discuss what makes this region so unique and discuss Darjeeling tea in general.
As of today (August 2017), it’s looking like there will be a shortage of Darjeeling tea on the world market due to unrest in the region. I will do an episode or video about this shortly.
